Are women 50+ invisible, irrelevant, and waiting for their husbands to retire? Yeah, I don't think so, and neither do they.
I've struggled with the outdated narrative that women in their late 40s and 50s feel invisible, aren't tech-savvy, and are hiding in the shadows.
The women I know and work with as clients know who they are and what they want. They aren't waiting for permission; in fact, they are paving the way for themselves and other women who want to create something new with purpose.
At this age they have more wisdom and leadership experience.
Debbie White's article in Forbes proves what I know and experience with my clients. Here are some powerful stats from her article:
“Look at it this way: if the women on this planet were a country, it would be the most powerful country in the world in terms of sheer buying power.”
"50+ are the fastest growing demographic online. (Source: DMN3)" Debbie White, Forbes.
"According to Ofcom, 64% of all adults aged 45-54 and 51% aged 55-64 now use social media. The biggest change can be seen in people aged 65-plus, where usage has increased to 35%, from just 2% in 2010, according to PEW." - from RHC Advantage:
It's an exciting time for midlife female entrepreneurs, and it's only getting better. The women I meet are leaving their corporate jobs and using their expertise to build purpose-driven businesses, and I feel fortunate to help them develop their brands.
I'm excited to see what the future holds with their (our) influence.
